About Lip Balm:

Lip balm is a substance topically applied to the lips of the mouth to relieve chapped or dry lips, angular cheilitis or stomatitis, and cold sores. Lip gloss is similar, but generally has only cosmetic properties. The balm is usually manufactured from beeswax, petroleum jelly, menthol, camphor, scented oils, and various other ingredients. Some manufacturers also add vitamins, alum, salicylic acid, or aspirin. Most lip balms contain sunscreen, to minimize sun damage. Some is natural, or even organic, while most commercially made balms have an ingredients list you need a chemical dictionary to read.

Lip balm usually comes in small containers; either one in which a finger is used to apply it to the lips, or in 'stick' form (similar to lipstick) which is applied directly to the lips. Few are home made, some are made in small mom-and-pop shops, most are made at a large processing plant.

Almond Oil (Prunus dulcis), Beeswax (Cera alba), Castor Oil, Chocolate, Cocoa Butter, Glycerine, Olive Oil (Olea europaea), Cetearyl Alcohol, Shea Butter (Butyrospermum parkii), Honey (Mel), Wheat Germ Oil (Triticum vulgare), Tangerine Oil (Citrus reticulata), Orange Oil (Citrus dulcis), Vanilla Absolute (Vanilla planifolia), Methylparaben, Oat Infusion (Avena Sativa), other essential oils.
